Distinct from an apartment building due to its detached form, this house is likely in the suburbs of a city or a&nbsp;rural area.

House Building

A bed with a gender-unspecified person sleeping in it, as at a <a href="/house/">house</a>, <a href="/hotel/">hotel</a>,&nbsp;hostel, or other sleeping accommodation. Used especially for various content concerning <a href="/sleeping-face/">sleeping</a> as well as beds, furniture, housing, relaxing, and other bedroom activities.

Shown with a headboard at the left&nbsp;and footboard with a person under the covers, head on the pillow. Most platforms suggest a wooden frame and feature blue or red sheets.

The appearance of the person varies. Apple and Facebook&#39;s designs show only the hair of the sleeper, Apple&#39;s black and Facebook&#39;s brown and tousled. Other major vendors show the head of the sleeper in default yellow with short, brown or blonde&nbsp;hair. Skin tone support is not recommended for this emoji, though it is supported&nbsp;<a data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://emojipedia.org/sleeping-accommodation-type-4/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1550338562835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHzfwaURXq7FmOe4Z-btvsniTcb0Q" href="/person-in-bed-medium-skin-tone/" target="_blank">on some platforms</a>.

Sleeping Accommodation

A family unit shown with two <a href="/person/">adults</a> and one <a href="/child/">child</a>. Previously displayed with the same design as&nbsp;<a href="/family-man-woman-boy/">👨&zwj;👩&zwj;👦 Family: Man, Woman, Boy</a> on most platforms, but now has its own gender inclusive appearance.

Family

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deciduous">deciduous</a> tree, whose leaves change color before shedding, as <a href="/fallen-leaf/">🍂 Fallen Leave</a>, in the <a href="/fall-autumn/">fall/autumn</a>. Depicted as a generic tree with a round, lush, leafy top and brown trunk.

May be used to represent various types of trees, forests, temperate climates, nature, and the seasons of <a href="/spring/">spring</a> and <a href="/summer/">summer</a>.

Deciduous Tree

An empty bird&#39;s nest.

May be used to talk about actual nests or birds. May also be used to talk about home in general or to represent phrases like nest egg or empty nest.

Nest with Eggs

A red brick or bricks. Depicted in a loose stack, a single object with holes, or as built into wall, as of a <a href="/house/">house</a>, <a href="/school/">school</a>, or other structure.

Commonly used for various content concerning building and construction. May also be used for figurative bricks, e.g., slang brick, &ldquo;extremely cold (weather).&rdquo;

Brick

A round hut with a thatched roof. Used to talk about huts, cottages, yurts, or homes in general.

A <a href="/house/" title=" 🏠 House Building">house</a> which is&nbsp;unoccupied, and has become derelict. In a state of disrepair.

Derelict House Building

A suburban-looking house, with&nbsp;a tree, flower, or shrubs around it in the garden.

House with Garden

A car&nbsp;shown from the side, facing right-to-left. Appears as a red car on almost all platforms (which <a href="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RedOnesGoFaster">goes faster</a>), though earlier Google designs displayed the vehicle as either <a href="/google/android-11.0/automobile/">silver</a> or <a href="/google/android-7.0/automobile/">blue</a>.

Facebook&#39;s first design for this emoji was also <a href="/facebook/1.0/automobile/">blue</a>.

Automobile

A bicycle, sometimes called a push bike, used for transport or sport.

Bicycle

A framed picture of a painting or photograph, as displayed in a gallery or on a household wall. Vendors feature various scenes, though generally a lush, sunny landscape of hills and <a href="/mountain/">mountains</a>, in a gold frame.

Commonly used for various content concerning&nbsp;art, museums, and interior design and decor. May also be used as an icon for a picture, as before an upload, link, or credit.

Microsoft&rsquo;s design <a href="/microsoft/windows-11/framed-picture/">previously</a> showed <a href="/ninja-cat/">Ninja Cat</a>.&nbsp;An&nbsp;earlier Microsoft&nbsp;design&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10/framed-picture/">featured</a>&nbsp;the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Lisa">Mona Lisa</a>, as did a previous&nbsp;<a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/framed-picture/">Samsung</a>&nbsp;design. Frame with Picture

A classic telephone, as a landline home phone. Most platforms depict a red, push-button phone with the <a href="/telephone-receiver/">handset</a> on the base.&nbsp;Some platforms feature&nbsp;designs with&nbsp;rotary dials.

Used for various content concerning literal and figurative phone calling. Also used as an icon before a phone number.

Black Telephone

The handset of a traditional&nbsp;<a href="/telephone/" title="☎ Black Telephone">telephone</a>, with speaker and microphone. Generally depicted in black at a 45&deg; angle.

Like <a href="/telephone/">☎️&nbsp;Telephone</a>, used for various content concerning literal and figurative phone-calling. Also used as an icon before a phone number.

Microsoft&rsquo;s design is red.

<a href="/au-kddi/type-a-2/telephone-receiver/">Early designs</a> for the telephone receiver emoji from au by KDDI resembled a mobile phone, and vice versa,&nbsp;before having their codepoints swapped in later releases.

Telephone Receiver

A newspaper rolled up and bound, as for delivery to a house. Generally positioned at a 45&deg; angle. Commonly used for various content concerning news, media, and journalism&nbsp;as well as personal news.

A package (parcel), as contains items ordered online. Depicted at various angles as a light-brown, cardboard box, with a shipping label and its top taped shut.

Commonly used for content concerning shipping, delivery, and moving as well as for boxes more generally.

Apple&rsquo;s design features an image of a <a href="/wine-glass/">wine glass</a>, indicating fragile contents, and &ldquo;this way up&rdquo; orientation arrows. It was&nbsp;<a href="/apple/ios-5.1/package/">briefly</a>&nbsp;identical to its <a href="/wrapped-gift/">🎁 Wrapped Gift</a>.

A key, as opens a <a href="/door/">door</a> or <a href="/locked/">lock</a>. Depicted at a 45&deg; angle as a gold, bronze, or copper key with a round head and notched blade. Commonly used for figurative senses of key, e.g., the key to success, being key&nbsp;(&quot;crucial&quot;).

DJ Khaled&nbsp;uses the emoji to indicate his&nbsp;<a href="http://snapchatemojis.com/verified/">Snapchat stories are official</a> (verified). Apple&rsquo;s design <a href="/apple/ios-9.1/key/">previously resembled</a> a gold <a href="/old-key/">🗝️ Old Key</a>, which emoji has similar applications.

May also represent digital keys in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-key_cryptography">public-key technology</a>. This may explain why the emoji&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/emojipedia-now-with-https/">does not display in page titles</a>&nbsp;on&nbsp;Apple&rsquo;s Safari web browser, presumably to prevent less reputable sites from pretending to be secure (encrypted using&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTPS">HTTPS</a>).
