May also be associated with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barber's_pole#Use_in_prostitution">brothels</a> in parts of Asia.

Barber Pole

A pink or red ribbon, as tied into a bow on a <a href="/wrapped-gift/">gift</a>&nbsp;or <a href="/womans-hat/">woman&#39;s hat</a>.

Often used to indicate something is pretty, cute, or special, including on holidays. Also used of various content concerning baby girls and for its pink or red color more generally.

<a href="/google/android-7.0/ribbon/">Google&rsquo;s</a> ribbon was previously orange, Facebook&rsquo;s <a href="/facebook/1.0/ribbon/">blue</a>.

Ribbon

A spool of thread, as used for sewing. Thread color varies across platforms, though often depicted in red or blue and on a wooden spool. Sometimes shown with an end unraveling.

Commonly used for various content concerning sewing, knitting, arts and crafts, clothing and fashion, and metaphorical threads (e.g., a discussion thread online).

WhatsApp&nbsp;and Microsoft&#39;s&nbsp;designs includes a needle.

Spool of Thread

A threaded silver needle. Color of thread varies from platform to platform.

Can be used to talk about crafts including embroidery, quilting, or sewing in general. Can also be used in medical contexts to talk about stitches.
